Some people sweeten their dishes with honey instead of sugar, but this replacement is not always the best solution. What's more! Honey can even make you gain weight! And more than sugar.

When replacing sugar with honey, always keep in mind that sugar has no nutrients, while honey contains plenty of them (from potassium, chlorine, phosphorus, calcium, iron to various vitamins). Honey also has an antibacterial effect, but if you overdo it, it can have the opposite effect.
Many people are unaware that honey is also sugar and contains a similar amount of calories. 100 grams of honey has 300 calories, while 100 grams of sugar have 380 calories.
An even more important fact is that honey is twice as heavy as sugar. So, when we eat a teaspoon of honey, it's the same as eating two teaspoons of sugar. Greater weight also means more calories!
And one more thing we must not forget about honey. Honey loses its nutritional properties at high temperatures. The problem is that high temperatures start at 36 degrees Celsius. In other words, tea sweetened with honey at a temperature of 50 degrees or more practically has no nutritional value, and it's better to sweeten it with sugar because you will consume fewer calories.
It's not uncommon for a cup of tea sweetened with honey to have 50 calories, while with sugar, it has 30 calories.
The difference is clear.
