The Miraculous Effects of Everyday Foods
The New York Times has compiled a list of foods that can treat heart disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol, various inflammations, help with weight loss, and extend life expectancy by 6.4 years.
Nutritionist and head of the Department of Cardiology and Food in New York, Carol Colman, has published an interesting selection of seven foods that extend life expectancy and offer numerous benefits to the body. According to his advice, all seven ingredients should be included in your daily diet. The calculation of an extended lifespan of 6.4 years is based on his personal statistics over several years.

Colman also recommends these foods for children, and especially for the elderly, leaving the method of consumption up to individual creativity. In his opinion, the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in these foods are sufficient to keep the body in excellent condition.

The Seven Miraculous Foods:

1. Red Wine
Drinking a glass (100 ml) of red wine a day reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by 32%.

2. Chocolate
You should eat 60 grams of dark chocolate (70% cocoa or more) every day because it lowers blood pressure and is rich in antioxidants.

3. Seeds and Nuts
Always eat only one type of nut at a time, and Colman especially recommends walnuts. Eat 65 grams a day to reduce cholesterol and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by 10%.

4. Garlic
A clove of garlic prevents blood clots, reduces cholesterol levels, prevents inflammation, and has antibacterial properties.

5. Fish
Eating 2 to 3 servings of fish per week reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by 14%, prevents heart rhythm disorders, and strengthens the immune system.

6. Fruit
Never eat multiple types of fruit together, and consume fruit mainly in the morning. Avoid eating fruit within 3 hours before bedtime to prevent unnecessary digestive strain.

7. Vegetables
You should eat 4 cups of green vegetables a day, as they reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by 21%, improve digestion and the immune system, lower blood pressure, and certain types (such as lettuce, cucumbers, and celery) have a cleansing effect and help with weight management.
