1. Vegetarians and vegans lose weight more easily
Deciding not to eat meat and animal proteins does not necessarily mean you will lose weight. If you do not understand how, for example, a vegan diet works, you will quickly exhaust your body, and instead of losing weight, you might start accumulating even more fat reserves as your body stores energy for tough times. Moreover, many people search for meat substitutes and therefore reach more often for cakes, pastries, sweets, or eat more snacks between meals... If you decide to cut out meat from your diet, make sure to get properly informed. There are many positive effects, but also many temptations.
2. Cutting carbohydrates
Does food without carbohydrates really help with weight loss? This is not entirely true. Don’t forget that there are good and bad carbohydrates, and that these are substances our body needs. It's true that simple carbohydrates are very unhealthy and fattening, while complex ones are found in nuts, fruits, and vegetables and are very important for health. Especially worth mentioning are grains, which contain a lot of carbohydrates, but also many vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Therefore, whole-grain bread, rice, and pasta are beneficial for health and your figure.
3. Diet drinks with fewer calories
One of the biggest conspiracies of our time is diet drinks with fewer calories, which give the false impression that they do not cause weight gain. Such drinks may not contain calories, but artificial sweeteners increase the craving for sweets, stimulate appetite, and indirectly affect the body’s ability to absorb nutrients. After drinking a diet beverage, you’ll soon be hungry again, but if you drink a glass of natural juice or tea (even sweetened with honey), your hunger will be less frequent.
4. Fats make you fat
Be careful with this one. Besides carbohydrates, fats are a very important source of energy. Carbohydrates provide quick energy and are therefore so fattening because people do not have a good sense for when and how much they really need; fats burn more slowly and provide the body with energy for several hours. If you eat low-fat yogurt, it could be an empty meal with which you end up taking in more harmful substances because the healthy fatty acids have been removed. Soon you will be hungry again, and at the end of the day your calorie intake will surpass the optimal number. Or you will be hungry all day, even though you eat a lot. Olives, pumpkin seeds, flaxseed oil, nuts are full of healthy fats and are important companions in weight loss.
5. Protein diets are the best way to lose weight
Protein diets are periodically very popular because they allow you to lose a lot of weight relatively quickly. But the downside of such diets is the yo-yo effect, which cannot be avoided because the body needs a balanced diet. It’s important to know that some vitamins and minerals are fat-soluble, and for others, the body's absorption is impossible without carbohydrates… Cutting out any important component means a deficiency in essential substances for the body. Protein diets can disrupt balance and may lead to serious complications. It is very important to eat a varied diet, so the best diet is to eat smaller meals several times a day.
