1. All dishes taste the same
Next time you indulge in fast food, pay attention to the flavors. If you ignore the different textures, all dishes taste the same. Fast food sellers only distinguish between salty, sweet, and spicy.
2. 30 seconds
Fast food is what's ready in 30 seconds. That's how long it takes for the ingredients from the freezer to thaw and heat up to a temperature that gives the impression it's freshly prepared.
3. Less chewing
Fast food is made so it doesn't require much chewing. It disintegrates in the mouth, so we eat it faster, even though that's not our intention. By the way: if you're extremely hungry, try to hold each bite in your mouth for at least 12 seconds, ideally 15 seconds. Also, the bites shouldn't be large.
4. Colors
Have you ever wondered why fast food restaurants are so colorful? Colors subconsciously create appetite, and the "most dangerous" are the colors of ketchup and mustard. These colors subconsciously trigger a reflex for overeating.
5. Grill marks
The dark grill marks, which are supposed to be from grilling, are factory-made "engraved" because such a burger looks more delicious and fresh. To the illusion of grilling, we must add flavor enhancers, especially the taste of smoke.
6. (Un)healthy salads
If you think salads in fast food restaurants are the healthiest part of their menu, you're right until you add dressing. Many salad dressings contain propylene glycol (E1520), which prevents vegetable wilting. While this additive is considered safe, it turns the salad into a calorie bomb. A salad with dressing has just as many calories as a burger with fries.
7. Cream
The issue of coffee foam is becoming more pressing. It contains styrene, a chemical that is released when in contact with hot liquid, affecting the nervous system and causing depression, loss of concentration...
8. Eggs
Not all eggs are the same. No employee knows the exact recipe for the egg mixture, but analyses show that scrambled eggs often contain glycerol, dimethylpolysiloxane, and calcium silicate (E552). Believe me, it's far from a homemade egg omelet in taste, texture, and nutritional value.
9. Shelf Life
You may not have known, but in fast food restaurants, don't buy things in advance. For example, fries are made to stay fresh for 5 minutes. The same goes for all kinds of burgers... If you want food delivered home, choose another restaurant.
