Since it's recommended to have a light and low-calorie dinner, many people think that fruit is the best choice, but it's not true. Fruit contains fructose, which acts the same as white sugar in the evening (meaning: it causes weight gain).
There is another reason why you shouldn't eat fruit in the evening. Fruits provide energy, which can disrupt sleep, making it harder to fall asleep in the evening. Therefore, it's better to have a dinner of green salad and other vegetables.
If you still crave fruit, start in the morning on an empty stomach. An apple is more beneficial than a cup of coffee, but eating an apple in the evening can cause acidity in the stomach. Avoid eating apples two hours before bedtime.
In general, choose fruits with less sugar. These include lemons, limes, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries. Fruits with a moderate amount of sugar are strawberries, papaya, watermelon, nectarines, melons, apricots, grapefruits ... Eat this fruit at least one hour before bedtime.
However, avoid tangerines, cherries, grapes, pomegranates, mangoes, figs, and especially bananas.
