The liver performs a hundred different functions at once and is most responsible for our health – don’t poison it!
 
The liver is our largest internal organ and takes care of practically all processes simultaneously – from digestion, blood circulation, to purification and detoxification. If your liver doesn’t function well, you will have a hard time recovering with just medication and without a very strict diet.

When we talk about the immune system, we are also talking about the liver, which is, in fact, a very sensitive organ. Even the slightest change in temperature can alter the functioning of the internal system. Likewise, the liver is affected by too much food in a short period of time. Fats can also be a problem, as they require more time to be processed. Problems also include combinations of foods, general fatigue, and of course, hydration (enough fluids in the body).

We present to you a few foods that are good to eat at least once a week, and certainly after a larger meal (like the recent holidays). In doing so, you’ll be doing the most for your body.

Artichokes

Artichokes ease the secretion of bile, which helps expel toxins from the body. Thanks to high amounts of flavonoids and chlorogenic acid, they also regulate cholesterol levels and assist in regenerating liver cells. Although fresh artichokes are the best, pickled ones are not a bad option in a pinch.

Olive oil

Just a spoonful of olive oil on an empty stomach can work wonders. Olive oil is so rich in antioxidants that it should be included in your daily menu, as it’s good for a whole range of illnesses. It’s also beneficial for strengthening the immune system and improving digestion.

Dandelion

If you’re not a fan of dandelion, try chopping it finely, adding a bit of potato, and making a salad out of it (of course, with olive oil). The texture of dandelion leaves isn’t exactly synonymous with tenderness and juiciness, but it hides within itself a wealth of other nutrients. Although March, the main dandelion season, is still some time away, remember that it contains more vitamin A than, for example, carrots. Additionally, it is used for cellulite removal, excessive weight, and the more bitter it tastes, the better its diuretic properties (helps eliminate water)... Dandelion is one of the most universal traditional folk remedies.
