Hello, and Fattening: Foods that Sabotage Your Diet
Whole grain bread, fruit yogurts, and dark chocolate – seemingly healthy choices that can actually hide too many calories and sugar.
For weight loss, a slim figure, and solid health, you need to stick to three rules: eat healthy, be physically active, and watch the amount of food you eat. Sometimes it seems like certain things can’t hurt us, but often this is exactly where the reason lies that diets and other cleansing cures aren’t as successful as they could be.
Whole Grain Bread
Everywhere we turn, we are bombarded with how whole grain bread is healthier than white bread, how it contains a lot of fiber and traces of healthy seeds… All of this is true, but even this bread has enough calories that a sandwich or two a day can ruin your entire diet effort. We recommend that you avoid sandwiches and wholegrain breads despite their benefits, and instead opt for cereals with low caloric value. We suggest couscous, wild rice, spelt…
Dairy Products
The most dangerous are fruit yogurts, or flavored yogurts. They usually contain a small proportion of fruit and a lot of sugar. Remember that even homemade fruit yogurt can be very fattening. That’s because we often mix in too much fruit. For homemade yogurt, try to use low-fat yogurt, and add no more than a tenth of fruit compared to the amount of yogurt, or even less.
White Rice
The difference between white and brown rice is 50 calories (we’re talking about a handful of rice – a handful is as much rice as fits in your hand). Besides, brown rice has much more fiber and will keep you feeling full longer.
Chocolate
Chocolate with a high content of cocoa and no added sugar is healthy, but very high in calories. The most dangerous form is hot chocolate, and even more so chocolate milk, where the calories literally skyrocket with just a few sips. With chocolate, it’s especially important to be moderate and eat no more than one row a day (3 to 4 squares).
Cheese
Although fats are healthy, it’s still necessary to limit your intake. Excess fats end up being stored somewhere, and no one wants that to be around their belly, thighs, hips… The least you can do is replace full-fat cheeses with low-fat ones.
To conclude, a tip: have you ever tried baby food? This type of food typically doesn’t contain much sugar, so it may taste sour, sometimes bitter… If you don’t like baby food, you are almost certainly too addicted to sugar. Humans originally received sugar only from fruit, but nowadays we are bombarded with sweeteners from all sides.
