Why wine with lunch yes, water no?
Have you ever wondered if you can drink water during a meal? The answer will surprise you: rather than water, drink a glass of wine...
Water is actually neutral, and if you drink a glass of water during lunch, you will dilute your stomach acid, reduce its strength, so the stomach will start producing even more acid, and you’ll get caught in a cycle that almost always ends with pain, cramps, heartburn, and bloating.
Instead, it’s better to drink a glass of quality red wine, which has many antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and the stomach reacts to it as something that helps with digestion. Just remember that all alcoholic drinks are acidic, and that there’s no difference between white and red wine except in the amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants have a dark-purple color (just like blueberries, figs, berries...) and are responsible for neutralizing free radicals, which are the cause of cancer development.
Of course, it is best not to drink anything during meals. However, if you can’t avoid it, we recommend an alternative to water. Namely, if you add the juice of a squeezed lemon to water, the water will get a sour taste, but in the stomach it will act as a base.
One more thing: practically all doctors agree that 1 deciliter of wine with lunch acts as a medicine.
