The skin around the eyes is extremely thin, densely populated with oil glands, and therefore highly sensitive to any minimal change in the body. When something's amiss, it becomes darker in color.
Dark circles can be hereditary. Fighting against this will be difficult; you can only alleviate symptoms and take care of your health.
Most often, dark circles occur due to tiredness, lack of sleep, or sinus infections.
Medications that cause blood vessel dilation can also be to blame for dark circles. Dilated vessels increase blood flow, making them more visible and darker.
Hormonal imbalance is another case where the skin under the eyes can darken.
Unhealthy diet can also cause dark circles, indicating a lack of iron, vitamin K, antioxidants...
How to get rid of dark circles?
Some believe that placing cucumber slices can effectively eliminate dark circles, which is partly true because cucumbers moisturize the skin. However, this advice doesn't work as it doesn't address the root causes.
Others swear by creams containing additional vitamin K. Regularly applying these creams can lighten dark circles by a few shades to make them less visible, but you still won't be able to completely get rid of them.
Advocates of natural methods recommend plenty of outdoor activities, getting some sun (but not too much), eating healthy food, and ensuring an adequate amount of sleep. This almost certainly works because it's good for the entire body, not just dark circles.
Luckily, there's another natural shortcut to getting rid of dark spots around the eyes.
With any machine, it's clear that before putting it under full load, you need to oil it to make it work better. Similarly, with the human body. Mix a teaspoon of olive oil with a few drops of lemon juice (the sour taste should dominate!) and consume it every morning on an empty stomach.
This will cleanse your body and take care of self-cleansing processes in the stomach and liver, plus you'll get more energy and improved digestion. It's true that the first morning spoonful won't work, but by the third day, and certainly after a week, you'll forget all about dark circles.
Of course, this is only valid if there's no serious illness behind the dark circles...
