Which bread is (un)healthy?
Eating bread is not a sin. It is true, however, that many people overdo it, which is why diets do not recommend it. But there is another criterion by which we know whether bread is healthy or not.

We all know that white bread causes a variety of problems. We all know that bread makes you gain weight. We also know that shop shelves are filled with countless different kinds of bread, and each claims to be better than the others.

So how to choose?

There have been quite a few attempts to evaluate bread, but in the end, nutritionists have concluded that the ingredients are what matters.

If we make bread at home, we need water, flour, yeast, and a little salt. Anything more just clouds the picture and worsens the bread’s effect on our health. It is true that there are types of bread without yeast (sourdough bread), which are especially welcomed by those who have problems with uric acid. It is also true that there are corn breads with seeds, but don't forget that corn flour is in the minority; artificial colorings are often added for a nice color, and, in the end, there are more and more breads with added sugar and without fiber, which is the most desirable element of healthy bread.

Therefore, nutritionists suggest that before you evaluate bread, look at the ingredients list, and the bread with fewer ingredients is better. By this logic, bread made at home from verified ingredients is the best. Still, it is good to self-limit and not eat more than a slice of bread per day. Ideally in the morning, so the body can use the energy it brings.

Try also to stick to not eating even homemade bread in the evening.
