Several studies have confirmed that the human body has no mechanism for eliminating excess carbohydrates. All the carbohydrates we consume remain in the body, and their accumulation leads to a whole range of negative consequences. It's true that some carbohydrates are used for the functioning of muscles and internal organs, but the rest is transformed into a substance similar to fat, which gets stored exactly where we least want it. Even though this is energy storage, it's not exactly as it seems, and this surplus does not disappear as we would like.
You wouldn't believe it, but obesity is not the biggest problem in this process.
If the intake of omega-6 fatty acids does not match the intake of omega-3 fatty acids, we gain weight. The problem is that the molecules of flour and sugar are very similar to vitamin C molecules, and they compete for space in the cells, where vitamin C loses the battle. Sweet carbohydrates aggressively occupy vitamin C’s places, even though vitamin C is considered one of the strongest antioxidants; it is not strong enough to push out the competitor. Nature did not anticipate this.
Unfortunately, the mixture of sugar and white flour is most commonly found in white bread and all types of pastries. Unfortunately, because those are the sweetest things, but they have an extremely negative impact on the body.
Luckily, there’s a trick to prevent carbohydrates from entering the cells.
You do this by eating an orange (not tangerines, as they have too much sugar) and waiting at least 10 minutes before you eat a delicious croissant. Instead of an orange, you can make yourself some freshly squeezed lemonade or drink grapefruit juice.
A croissant after such a healthy drink will be less harmful for the flow of vitamin C throughout the body, but the problem of excess carbohydrates still remains. You can only burn these off if you are physically active for at least half an hour after the croissant.
In other words, a walk after a meal is the best thing you can do for yourself.
