Pineapple is 5 times more effective than cough syrup, that's why some hospitals even use it.
Pineapple contains a lot of bromelain, an enzyme that reduces inflammation. In Germany, it is officially used in hospitals for treating coughs, nasal and sinus swelling, as well as for relieving the effects of injuries and surgeries. Pineapple contains 5 times more bromelain than any cough syrup and also has a high level of manganese, a mineral important for bone and connective tissue formation. It is most effective in regulating metabolism processes, fat breakdown, and carbohydrate breakdown.
A glass of pineapple contains 50% of the daily vitamin C needs, making it very beneficial against throat, sinus, and lung inflammation. Numerous studies have shown that besides these properties, pineapple prevents viral infections, colds, and flu, and it is much cheaper than pharmaceutical drugs.
In 2010, an extensive study was conducted, and the results were published in Der Pharma Chemica journal. Among other things, they also published a recipe for a universally effective pineapple juice.
To enhance the power of pineapple in a glass of freshly squeezed juice, add:
- 1 tablespoon of ginger powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
Preparation: Mix all ingredients well, and if you want to reduce mucus levels in the lungs, add a tablespoon of honey. It is important to drink fresh juice, not canned juice.
