If you want to lose weight, follow these tips, because they will improve your metabolism in no time. And you won’t believe it, but in 83% of cases, that's enough to get your weight in order.
Even if you have no intention of dieting, try to stick to these rules, because they can help regulate your digestion and improve your health. The tricks are so simple you can follow them with all your meals, and even snacks. The general rule of all these tips is that they don’t rely on deprivation or intentional starvation, but they raise your eating habits to a higher level.
1. Dilute your drinks Summer is an ideal time when you can add an ice cube to practically every drink. This dilutes the drink, which makes it less calorie-dense, you'll feel fuller, and most importantly, if you add ice cubes to milk, the diluted fats will mean less bloating for you.
Just this ... Try to stick to the rule of using one ice cube for every deciliter of a drink.
2. No forbidden foods! If you feel like eating a large, delicious hamburger, don’t let any diet stop you. Most of the time the problem is not with the basic food itself, but with the side dish. When you eat a hamburger, don’t eat it with fries, but with a salad. Such a hamburger will fill you up much more and will even be healthy.
3. Eat Chinese and Japanese food Chinese and Japanese cuisine contains less unnecessary fats and preservatives. Most of the time, you get fresh food with plenty of vegetables, mushrooms, seafood, seaweed... And also: if you eat this kind of food with chopsticks, you’ll eat more slowly, which is key in every diet.
4. The water drinking ruleDrinking water is not something to take lightly. Besides the amount you should drink throughout the day, try to follow another rule: half an hour before every meal, try to drink a glass of water. Don’t drink water during or after meals, as this will only dilute your stomach acids, which will slow down and worsen your metabolism. The food will be less rich, and your body will store more for hard times.
5. Reduce your portions Whenever possible, order smaller pizzas, smaller portions, maybe even kids' meals. At home, the easiest way to do this is to eat from smaller bowls, which you can safely fill to the top. You can also swap plates for bowls...
6. Do not avoid carbohydrates All of you on the LCHF diet surely pricked up your ears, but the fact is that carbohydrates are an important source of energy in our bodies. The problem lies with bad carbohydrates, which abound in processed foods. Completely eliminating carbohydrates often causes tiredness and weakness, and has a worse effect on the body than the worst stress. So: don’t be afraid of carbohydrates, just cut out unnecessary industrial substitutes. Example: why do fruit yogurts need so much sugar when you can mix some strawberries or blueberries into plain yogurt? Or: why is there sugar in plain yogurt? It’s always good to read the labels (while we can still trust them).
7. Don’t mix proteins Eating a juicy steak and drinking a glass of milk or yogurt isn't bad if you eat them separately. Try to follow the rule that at least half an hour passes between different kinds of protein. This way, you'll give your body enough time to digest each type of food separately. The problem is that sometimes we mix things that our digestive tract processes for 18 hours or more... But luckily, these are exceptions.
8. Mayonnaise does not exist Mayonnaise is (currently) the only food that is better to cut out from your diet. Mayonnaise ranks at the top of high-calorie foods and, on top of that, our body has a very hard time digesting it. It’s much better to dress your salad with high-quality olive oil instead of mayonnaise, or you can dilute mayonnaise with plain yogurt in a 1:1 ratio.
9. Cleansing day Many people practice having one day a week when they drink only water. This is okay, but the body is then in shock, as our stomach can't tell when it's Monday or Friday... That’s why nutritionists recommend a slightly different cleansing day, where for breakfast you drink a glass of tomato juice, for lunch you drink two glasses of tomato juice and eat two slices of wholegrain bread, and for dinner you again drink a glass of tomato juice, which you can season a bit more heavily with herbs.
10. The power of positive thinking To stay positive, don’t set goals that are too high. In fact, avoid long-term high goals, because you’ll still reach your goal with a series of small steps. And you’ll be much more optimistic too.
