Fiber helps with digestion and metabolism. In fact, fiber is the substance that our body cannot break down, so it travels through our body practically unchanged, picking up substances along the way—mostly ones we don’t like (and vitamin C, which in any case leaves the body more easily than it enters it).

This time we offer you a selection of vegetables that are high in fiber, which means they have a cleansing effect, are healthy for the body, nutritious, and will even help you lose weight. Your body will thank you.

1. Cabbage
The most fiber is found in ordinary cabbage. Eat it raw in salads (of course, without creamy dressings). Eat it in soup. Even sugar-free cabbage desserts are very healthy. Broccoli and kohlrabi have a similar effect on the body and the whole system. It is worth mentioning that white cabbage has more fiber, while red cabbage has more antioxidants. In both cases, your stomach and intestines will thank you.

2. Carrots
In second place for the amount of healthy fiber is the carrot, which has earned its high ranking also because of its complete set of B vitamins and calcium. Carrots are excellent for the stomach and for weight loss. Try eating only raw carrots for a day (you can blend them in a smoothie or make carrot chips), or eat them cooked.

3. Beetroot
Among traditional foods, beetroot holds a very important place. Even though it’s in third place for fiber, it has so many other beneficial properties that it could be called the queen of home-grown vegetables. In addition to regulating digestion and also helping with weight loss, beetroot also normalizes blood pressure, increases the level of red blood cells, regulates insulin in the blood, and even doctors admit that weight loss with beetroot is one of the safest and healthiest.

4. Beans
Beans are eaten a lot by athletes. Green beans contain a lot of protein and few calories. In addition, you can prepare a whole range of great dishes from beans, but their biggest advantage is that they provide a feeling of fullness for several hours.

5. Flax seeds
Flax seeds cannot quite compare with cabbage and beetroot, but if you compare the feeling of fullness, flax seeds last the longest. Flax seeds quickly regulate digestion and really, like an express train, clean out even the most hidden corners of our digestive tract. You can eat flax seeds by themselves or combined with other vegetables, dairy products, and even fruit. Regular consumption of flax seeds is a real balm for the stomach.

6. Apples
Apples also contain a lot of fiber and help significantly with weight loss. Many nutritionists even recommend that everyone should have an apple day, when you eat nothing but apples.
