What you eat in the morning can affect your whole day. If you eat heavy and inappropriate food — which absolutely includes pasta — you’ll feel tired and sleepy all day. If you eat things that burden your stomach, you’ll feel uncomfortable in your stomach all day and it will be hard to concentrate. If you eat things that are laxative, you’ll spend the whole day running to the toilet...
That’s why sometimes it’s even better to skip breakfast than to eat things that are bad for you.
But this shouldn’t mean that more than 4 hours pass between breakfast and lunch!
Bacon, ham, and sausages
Many people like to have a sandwich for breakfast. Don’t! Sandwiches are among the top 10 dietary scourges of humanity and cause problems with diabetes, lead to weight gain, and increase the risk of colon cancer by seven times. So, if possible, don’t eat meat in the morning, especially not processed meat.
Cereal
Not all cereals are the same. There are plenty that contain enormous amounts of sugar and far too many carbohydrates for a morning carb-bomb to do your health any good. Sure, the sugar explosion gives you some energy, but only for a short time. A very short time. In just half an hour, you’ll be hungry and tired, and your day will be lost. When choosing cereals, opt for those high in fiber and protein.
Pastries and baked goods
Do you think products made from white flour and with lots of sugar are good for your health? No way! Stay as far away as possible! In addition to elevated blood sugar, higher blood pressure, and a bunch of other unpleasant issues (the link between blood sugar and cancer is scientifically proven), you’ll be hungry again in half an hour. The curse of baked goods isn’t only that they make you gain weight, but that after one croissant, you’ll want another and another. White flour and sugar act more like the worst kind of drugs (people today are 65% fatter than 50 years ago!).
Pre-made sandwiches, pre-prepared food
If you buy your breakfast at the shop or, heaven forbid, a gas station, you must be very brave. Are you sure you got a freshly made sandwich? Of course not! Even if the vendor assures you it’s from the morning delivery, know that store-bought food is full of preservatives and sodium, because that’s the only way it can keep its apparent freshness until the next day, when you’ll return and buy a new batch.
Fruit yogurts
Pay attention to how often you go to the toilet if you drink fruit yogurt for breakfast. Of course, not all yogurts are the same, but those with hundreds of calories and artificial sweeteners and a shelf life of more than a month absolutely do not belong in the healthy food section. Yogurts — even if they have healthy cultures and fruit — can also be a burden for your body.
