At first glance, the combination of ginger, avocado, and orange may seem unusual, but once you understand the nutritious and healing properties of these ingredients, you'll change your mind.

Oranges aren’t just a delicious fruit—they are packed with vitamin C and fiber, both of which are essential for your body, especially during the fall season when illnesses are most common. Ginger has a positive effect on the digestive tract and helps cleanse the body. It's well known that nearly 80% of the immune system is housed in the gut, which is why ginger should be a more regular part of your daily diet. And when you add in the healthy fats from avocado, combined with green leafy lettuce, you get a true vitamin bomb. What makes this smoothie different from other vitamin mixes is that the ingredients increase your body’s absorption capacity by over 70%. Simply eating vitamins isn’t enough if your body can’t absorb them, and most vitamins need fats—healthy fats—to be properly absorbed.

How to make the vitamin bomb?

Ingredients:

  • 1 peeled orange (leave as much white pith on as possible)
  • 1 to 2 centimeters of grated ginger
  • 1/4 of an avocado
  • 2 cups of lettuce, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 cup of milk, almond or coconut, or kefir

Preparation:

There’s only one thing you need to keep in mind while preparing this: speed. Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until you get a smooth, homogeneous blend. You need to drink the smoothie immediately because every minute that passes, the nutritional value decreases by 1% due to oxidation. If you can’t drink it all at once or want to make enough for later, store the smoothie in an airtight container to minimize air exposure.
