How to resist sweets? Simple!
Do you often find yourself unable to say no to sweets despite your best intentions? Especially when you're tired or stressed ... The solution is simple!
Resisting sweets is difficult. We all know that sweet food gives the body energy ... Well, at least apparent energy ... However, there is a simple and natural method that can help you manage these cravings: aromatherapy. Research has shown that the scents of certain essential oils can help control appetite and reduce the desire for sweets. Let's see which oils are most effective for this.

Citrus oils: Bergamot and grapefruit

Citrus essential oils are known for their refreshing and invigorating scents. For example, bergamot oil helps improve mood and can prevent emotional overeating. The scent of bergamot reduces the secretion of cortisol, the stress hormone, making it an ideal aroma in stressful situations.

The same applies to grapefruit essential oil. Its scent improves mood, provides energy, reduces the need for snacks and sweets. Additionally, it can help activate enzymes that aid the body in breaking down body fat. It contains D-limonene, which supports metabolism and lymphatic system cleansing.

Peppermint oil

Peppermint essential oil is known for its ability to reduce appetite. A study has shown that inhaling the scent of peppermint every two hours can reduce hunger pangs and subsequently calorie intake. It also improves mood, helps regulate digestion, and increases energy and alertness.

Cinnamon and ginger

The scents of cinnamon and ginger are also effective at reducing the craving for sweets. Cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar levels, which reduces the desire for sugar. Ginger regulates blood sugar levels and, due to its flavor, reduces the need for sweet foods.

How to use essential oils to reduce the craving for sweets?

There are several ways to incorporate essential oils into your daily routine to manage the desire for sweets:
  • Inhalation: Hold a bottle of the chosen essential oil under your nose and inhale deeply for 5 minutes.

  • Diffuser: Use a diffuser that will fill the space with the pleasant scent of essential oil.

  • Warm bath: Add 5 drops of essential oil to a warm bath and relax for 30 minutes.

  • Massage: Dilute essential oil in a carrier oil (such as almond or coconut oil) and apply it to areas of the body where fat accumulates.

Blend of essential oils to reduce appetite

If you want to combine the effects of several essential oils, you can prepare the following blend:
  • 8 drops of bergamot essential oil
  • 4 drops of grapefruit essential oil
  • 2 drops of ginger essential oil

Pour this mixture into a 10 ml bottle and shake well. Inhale this blend directly from the bottle as needed. Alternatively, you can add 8 drops of bergamot oil, 4 drops of grapefruit oil, and 2 drops of ginger oil to a diffuser or, if you don't have one, to a container with 500 ml of hot water. The vapors will freshen the air in the room and have a beneficial effect on mood, tension, and appetite.

Additional spices that help control the craving for sweets

In addition to the mentioned essential oils, some spices can also help reduce the need for sugar:
  • Cardamom: This distinctive spice effectively suppresses the desire for sweets. You can add it to desserts, teas, or rice dishes.

  • Cloves: They have been proven to improve insulin function and lower blood glucose levels, helping to control the craving for sweets. Cloves can be added to rice dishes or beverages like tea.

Managing the craving for sweets can be a challenge, but essential oils and certain spices can effectively help you with this. By incorporating aromatherapy into your daily routine, you can naturally reduce the need for sugar.
