When will you replace wheat flour with flaxseed flour?
The world is rediscovering the healing properties of flaxseed, and the use of flaxseed flour is becoming increasingly popular, as it is also very beneficial for health.
Did you know that Charlemagne, who was the first emperor after the fall of the Roman Empire, ordered all his subjects in the 9th century to eat flaxseeds regularly? He believed in the healing power of flaxseeds, and he was right. Modern research confirms that flaxseeds contain three essential components for humans. They are extremely high in omega-3 fatty acids (only sesame seeds have as much of these fats, while all other vegetables contain significantly less), high in fiber (both soluble and insoluble), and lignans.

Lignans are essential substances that act as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and anticancer agents. Research unequivocally confirms that flaxseeds reduce the risk of breast cancer and some other types of cancer.

The body needs omega-3 fatty acids to prevent heart disease, circulation problems, and vascular issues. Did you know that a spoonful of flaxseed flour contains about 1.8 grams of omega-3 fatty acids, which is exceptionally high?

The amount of fiber in flaxseeds is remarkable and essential for cleansing the intestines, regulating digestion, and many other internal processes.

Flaxseeds also contain a high amount of antioxidants and plenty of plant estrogen, which helps with prostate cancer, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, and balances hormones.

When and how to use flaxseed flour?

The best flaxseed flour is freshly ground flour. We recommend buying regular flaxseeds and grinding them only when and as much as needed.

To start with, you can always replace a quarter of flour with flaxseed flour (3 tablespoons of regular flour and 1 tablespoon of flaxseed flour). It is also worth noting that one tablespoon of flaxseeds and three tablespoons of water make a good and healthy substitute for eggs. Baking with flour enriched with flaxseed flour enhances the taste of cookies, pastries, biscuits, and even meat dishes have a richer taste and are more nutritious.

For a taste of what flaxseed flour can do, here's a simple recipe for a healthy pizza. Here are the ingredients for the dough:
  • 1/2 cup flaxseed flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • a few drops of olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • oregano
Preparation:

Mix all the ingredients except oregano and water well. Add water and oregano at the end. Let the dough rise a bit, then spread it on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, then add toppings to the pizza. Bake for another 15 minutes or until the pizza is ready (this also depends on the ingredients you use).

Enjoy your meal.
