Why should you not eat canned tuna?
Canned tuna is the most popular canned dish not only here, but also worldwide. Unfortunately, there are many dangerous things behind it ...
Tuna is extremely healthy at its core, containing a lot of essential fats and other minerals that are very important for good health. Unfortunately, the canning process significantly changes the overall picture. For the worse!

Canned tuna brings a lot of risks.

1. High mercury content
Sea fish often contain large amounts of mercury. So much so that it can be dangerous to humans, especially because it is methylmercury, causing serious complications in the eyes, kidneys, and lungs.

2. Stronger flavor
Canned tuna has a more pronounced, pleasant taste, but hidden behind it are flavor enhancers, spices, and of course, enormous amounts of salt. Although we know that sodium is essential for a variety of organic functions, too much sodium greatly increases the risk of stroke and heart attacks.

3. 1% dolphins
Although there are no official data, fishermen often say that dolphins are often caught in tuna nets, which are protected species. Some say that up to 1% of dolphins are often caught in extreme conditions with tuna. According to the rules, dolphins should be returned to their natural environment, but due to the increasing demand for tuna, this does not actually happen. So, if you often eat canned tuna, there is a high probability that you have eaten a dolphin as well.

4. Parasites
A very important reason to avoid canned tuna is hidden in the tunas themselves. Rough estimates show that today more than a third of fish are infected with fungi, microorganisms, and parasites that are dangerous to humans. Often, it turns out that canned tuna is not properly preserved, allowing many of these microorganisms to survive. The worst part is that we may not even notice an infection or attack by such a parasite. Problems can develop only over time.

Anyway ...

It is said that tuna in the Thai sea is quite contaminated with heavy metals and infected with parasites, while tuna from the Adriatic Sea is not (or much less). Therefore, always check the origin before buying fresh tuna (usually the price reveals it), and for canned tuna, you will have to trust the manufacturer.
