You are what you eat. For centuries, people have believed that what we put into our bodies is more important than what we put on ourselves. And here we present to you some things that we do every day, but we don't care much about their effects. Well, at least until it's too late ...
We eat too much sugar
Analyses show that a woman should consume 25 grams of sugar per day, while a man should consume 37.5 grams. In other words: you can eat between 6 and 9 teaspoons per day, which is far from the reality showing that the average European consumes 22.2 teaspoons of sugar. Consuming too much sugar increases the risks of heart and vascular diseases.
We consume too much protein
We distinguish between animal and plant proteins, with plant proteins containing significantly less fat and significantly more healthy minerals. The general rule states that for every kilogram of weight, we should consume 0.36 grams of protein. Unfortunately, analyses show that we consume three times more protein, mostly those that do not have an impact on our immune system but rather on weight gain. Consuming too much protein increases the risks of developing kidney stones, heart diseases, a thick colon, high levels of saturated fats (found in red meat) leading to artery clogging, high blood pressure, and accumulation of fat around the belly area.
Too much sugary drinks
Similar to consuming too much sugar, the same applies to drinking too many sugary beverages. Nutritionists are convinced that if we replaced sugary drinks with water, we would cut our daily sugar intake in half. However, it seems that humanity will never manage to do this. Sugary drinks put the most strain on blood vessels.
Too many carbohydrates
Did you know that carbohydrates are the only food that prolongs life? And no, this doesn't mean that you should eat pizza and fries every day. Absolutely not! You should eat whole foods that contain natural carbohydrates, along with plenty of nutrients, fibers, vitamins, and minerals. If we could find a balance between carbohydrates, fats, and proteins (every organism has its optimal ratio), we could greatly impact our lifespan. Nutritionists warn that only through a Mediterranean diet can we achieve this healthy balance in the long run ...
Too much alcohol
Let's admit it: a glass (1 dcl) of wine every other day is healthy! If accompanied by a lot of Mediterranean diet (fresh and natural), this is the best thing you can do for your body. However, as the numbers show that today we consume 8.2 times more alcohol per capita than 50 years ago, it seems that we are becoming a society of alcohol addicts, among whom there are increasingly alarming numbers of young people getting drunk too early, and more and more older people who do not understand that alcohol significantly increases the risks of developing cancers and tumors due to liver function disorders.
Hm ...
