Post-meal habits harmful to health
The hardest habits to get rid of are those we do for pure pleasure, but they are the ones that greatly harm our health …
1. Cigarette after a meal
Did you know that a cigarette after lunch has the same effect as smoking 10 cigarettes before a meal? Smoking affects metabolism, and nicotine binds to oxygen, causing the body to absorb fewer nutrients. Oxygen deficiency in muscles further leads to cellular stress.

2. Fruit after a meal
Fruit ferments quickly, causing increased acidity, bloating, and various other digestive issues. Always eat fruit on an empty stomach, or at least an hour after a meal.

3. Tea after a meal
While many people have a cup of tea after lunch, few are aware that tannin binds to iron, weakening blood, circulation, and metabolic processes. Wait at least an hour after a meal to drink tea.

4. Showering and swimming
Experts warn that water in this case hinders blood circulation and digestion, as the body must regulate body temperature instead of directing energy towards metabolic processes. Avoid water for at least an hour after a meal.

5. Unbuttoning your pants
If you had your pants buttoned while eating and then unbuttoned them, you did yourself a disservice. Every change slows down digestion. Also, when you unbutton, extra empty space is created in the stomach, making you feel hungry sooner.

6. Physical activity
After a meal, sit calmly for at least half an hour to an hour so the body can digest food properly. If you redirect energy into running, walking, or exercising right after eating, less energy will be available for digestion. Poor digestion also means poorer absorption of nutrients. Avoid strenuous physical activities for at least 2 hours after a meal.

7. Sleep
Avoid sleeping after a meal as well. The lying position is not natural for proper digestion, and fluids may not always flow in the right direction. Try to sit for at least half an hour after a meal.
