An Australian research group of scientists analyzed and tested several hundred different tips for preventing hangovers. In the end, they were surprised by the advice involving pears, which is simple, quick, inexpensive, and tasty. Why suffer from a headache and nausea when you can help yourself with a pear.
Pears contain significantly more sugar than, for example, apples, but they have one very important property: pears actually lower the alcohol level in the blood. Two pears can reduce the blood alcohol level by almost half.
According to the researchers, this analysis is not yet proof of the effect of pears on our health and well-being, but experiential results have shown that pears are by far superior to others. Pears contain a lot of minerals, vitamins, and fiber, making them a good snack as well as a dinner substitute. Of course, raw pears are the best and most nutritious.
It would be a waste to use pears in a dessert or peel them (if it's not absolutely necessary).
