But to avoid overeating them, we offer you a recipe for a drink that has all the healing effects of tangerines in a slightly different way.
Ingredients:
- 8 tangerines
- 500 ml water
- 200 g sugar
- 3 cinnamon sticks, or 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
- 6 cloves
Bring the water to a boil together with the sugar. When the water boils, add cinnamon and cloves, and let it simmer for another minute or two. Then remove the pot from the heat and add peeled tangerines. Cover the pot and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
Serve the drink cold, and the aroma will undoubtedly remind you of the most beautiful Christmas evening.
And a tip for tangerine peels... Peels actually have more vitamins than the pulp. If you want to utilize that as well, you need to first dry the peels, then store them in a paper bag in the refrigerator for a day or two to retain as much aroma as possible. Once prepared, grind the peels in a coffee grinder.
You can sprinkle tangerine peel powder on juices, desserts, even rice, or pasta.
Just make sure to use organic tangerines with as little pesticide residue as possible. If you are unsure about the type of tangerines you have, soak them in vinegar for 15 minutes before peeling, and then rinse them thoroughly with water. This way, you will remove 95% of pesticides.
