Did you know that the combination of chia seeds and blueberries contains 10 times more omega-3 fatty acids than salmon, 8 times more vitamin C than oranges, 15 times more magnesium than broccoli, 5 times more iron than spinach, and together with coconut, it has 8 times more calcium than milk? Among all the seeds in the world, chia seeds are the most nutritious. Even more so than hemp seeds and pomegranate seeds.
And what about blueberries? They inhibit the formation of cancer, have anti-aging effects, reduce dementia, and combat Alzheimer’s disease. Blueberries boost brain function, protect the heart, regulate blood sugar, and aid digestion...
Chia seeds and blueberries are superfoods, and so is the following recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
- 200 ml of coconut milk
- 1/2 tablespoon of butter
- 4 tablespoons of blueberries
- Spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg
Place the coconut milk and blueberries in the fridge overnight. If possible, avoid the large American blueberries, which often have a bland taste and similar nutritional profile. Smaller, darker blueberries are much healthier. Soak the chia seeds in water for at least half an hour, but it’s best to do this overnight. Always soak them in a ratio of 1:3—one tablespoon of chia seeds to three tablespoons of water. Ten minutes of soaking should be sufficient, but you can use the seeds without soaking as well. In that case, add a little water because chia seeds will absorb all the liquid in the drink, making it too thick.
A word about the spices: If you want to make the drink even healthier, it’s best to use all three spices without skimping. Keep in mind that ginger has a slightly spicy taste, too much cinnamon can make the drink bitter, and nutmeg is considered a mild drug, so it’s best not to overdo it.
To prepare the drink, put all the ingredients in a blender and blend for a minute or two. Serve chilled, but don’t use ice cubes. This drink is an ideal breakfast substitute and a true vitamin-energy bomb.
