Ingredients for the Alkaline Smoothie:
- 1/2 cup of spinach
- 1 kiwi
- 1 small cucumber (it's very important that it's small!)
- 1/2 stalk of celery
- 1/2 cup of homemade apple juice
- a little honey, if you need a sweetener
Place all the ingredients in a blender for at least 2 to 3 minutes, so they blend well together.
The essence of this drink is that all the ingredients have a pH between 8.1 and 9.0, meaning they are highly alkaline. Additionally, raw spinach contains a lot of folic acid, which helps in cell regeneration, proper metabolism function, and nervous system operation, stimulates gastric acid secretion, and allows the body to more efficiently utilize the nutrients we consume (a good example is eggs and vitamin B12: eggs contain a lot of vitamin B12 but also substances that prevent the body from absorbing it).
This drink also contains a lot of pectin, visible in its characteristic green color (hence why it's important that the cucumber is small, as smaller cucumbers have a higher proportion of green pectin). Runners also need it, as it has the ability to bind water, which prevents swelling, joint, and muscle pain... It also helps with all types of arthritis, stimulates intestinal peristalsis, and regular consumption reduces body fat (including in the blood).
Lastly, a warning: the anti-acidity smoothie is made up of entirely alkaline substances. If you add any ingredient to your liking, you can quickly negate the alkaline pH effect.
