How often to eat potatoes to remain healthy?
Potatoes contain a lot of starch and carbohydrates and therefore do not fall under the category of healthy foods. But what is healthy?
One of the oldest professional British medical journals, BMJ, published the results of a study that lasted several years, involving 187 thousand men and women. The study unequivocally showed that potatoes are harmful.

Potatoes are the third most widely used food after rice and wheat. In 2013, 368 million tons were produced. Most of it is produced in China, accounting for about one-third of global production.

Because potatoes contain a lot of starch and carbohydrates, they should be avoided or consumed in moderate amounts. British researchers found that those who ate potatoes the most frequently, up to 3 times a week, had significantly fewer health problems.

Potatoes can cause high blood pressure, digestive problems, worsened blood counts, and even headaches. Fried potatoes are the worst, followed by roasted, mashed, with the least harmful being those in salads.

Actually, potato salad is the least harmful in terms of health, as the starch in cooled potatoes changes from simple to complex, meaning that the body needs much more energy (read: calories) and time for it to appear in the blood as sugar. Because of this gradual process, the body can react to increased sugar levels and break down most of the excess sugar at the right time.

However, don't think that potatoes are really that harmful. This is only the case if you have weight problems. Potatoes are rich in vitamin B6, potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus ... They also contain a lot of healthy fiber.

So: if you want to eat healthily, eat potatoes every other day, and especially not on weekends. Additionally, potato salad is significantly less harmful compared to potatoes fried in oil.
