5 foods that harm the brain
Do you have problems with memory or concentration? These issues increase with age, so be careful not to speed them up with your diet.

There are foods that strengthen and stimulate brain activity. These are avocado, blueberries, and dark chocolate. Unfortunately, there are also foods that damage brain cells. If you want to keep a clear mind, avoid them.

1. Salt
If we have too much sodium in our blood, the transmission of nerve impulses is disrupted, which automatically slows down the brain. Salt should be especially avoided in children and later in life. The concentration of sodium in the body can only be reduced by drinking lots of water, but do not do this with carbonated drinks, as they contain enormous quantities of salt and sugar to neutralize the taste.

2. Sugar
Excessive consumption of sugar causes lack of attention, feelings of confusion, loss of concentration, and is also damaging to processes in internal organs. The body then has to focus on itself, and the brain is overwhelmed with regulating these processes, so it processes external stimuli less efficiently. Just like salt, sugar is especially problematic for both children and the elderly, and the problem is that it is hard to get rid of sugar from the body.

3. Animal fats
Excessive consumption of animal fats leads to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques or lesions. This means the accumulation of cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood vessels, which causes thickening of the arterial walls and can lead to blockage of the vessels. Especially avoid fats from pork and watch out for high cholesterol.

4. Crackers and chips
Excessive consumption of these snacks poisons our brain, as it inhibits the formation of new brain cells. If you’re wondering what counts as excessive consumption, we have to disappoint you—even 10 grams of chips is too much for some children and adults.

5. Alcohol
The impact of alcohol on the brain is undeniable. Even a very small dose of alcohol blocks processes in the brain, and the worst part is that we’re not even aware of it. That’s why the issue is not only drunkenness, as even one sip negatively affects your thinking.
