Of course, as with any addiction, gradual reduction is very important. If you have a sweet tooth, we don't recommend that you stop eating sweets tomorrow. Give your body time and, to start, choose things with less sugar, but definitely avoid artificial sweeteners.
After about two weeks of reduced sweetness, you can try eating food completely without added sugars. You won't be able to avoid the sugar in fruit, vegetables, and milk, but these sugars are much less harmful…
And when do you know that you are free from sugar addiction?
It's not easy. Research has shown that only after 100 days can you say that you are no longer addicted to sugar.
1. You will feel better
Depression, irritability, and anxiety are strongly linked to increased sugar in the body. It's true that sugar quickly fills you with energy, but it's more of an aggression than optimistic good mood. More sugar, therefore, is not good at all. If you feel bad during the withdrawal period, rather eat a carrot or an apple. Fruit and vegetables will cheer you up in a healthy way. 2. Better quality sleep
When you eat something sweet, your blood sugar suddenly rises and then quickly drops again. All this causes stress in the body, increases the secretion of the hormone cortisol, which interrupts sleep, so your body cannot rest because of sugar. Pay attention: nightmares will haunt you only when you eat sweets late at night. 3. Excess weight
It's a generally known fact that if you eat fewer sweets, you will lose weight faster, but that's not entirely true. You gain weight if you eat sugar in combination with unhealthy fats. Above all, avoid high-calorie desserts that give you bad and short-term energy, but actually just pollute your body. Research has shown that for weight loss, you can use a simple formula: for however much you reduce your sugar intake, you will lose three times that amount of weight. Example: if you eat 100 grams less sugar a day, you will naturally lose a kilogram in just over three days. 4. Acne
Sugar causes internal inflammation and stubborn skin problems that appear as acne. Years ago in the USA, a study showed that after three days of regular consumption of soft drinks, 87 percent of respondents developed acne. The same applies not just to drinks, but also to chocolate bars, candies, cakes, and other desserts. 5. Better memory
At a university in South Carolina, USA, a large study was conducted about the effects of sugar on learning and memory performance. The key finding was that sugar inhibits communication between brain cells.
