Dr. Ibrahim Fanci conducted a study among 800 elderly people aged 72 to 103 years. Their task was to consume a piece of probiotic cheese (these are products rich in probiotics – kefir, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheeses...) for three weeks, before breakfast.
During the investigation, everyone’s digestion improved (previously, more than a third occasionally had issues), blood test results were several times (!!!) better in 53% of participants than before the test. All participants' white blood cell counts increased at least threefold (white blood cells contribute to a more effective immune system). The number of seasonal infectious diseases significantly decreased.
The fact is, the good (probiotic) bacteria did their job and strengthened the body’s resistance. White blood cells are crucial in the fight against infectious diseases.
Many studies have shown that probiotics contain live microorganisms, yeasts, that strengthen the intestinal flora. There are also prebiotics, which contain a lot of fiber and other elements that strengthen the intestinal flora. The best are synbiotics, which contain both probiotics and prebiotics together.
Today we know that probiotics lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, decrease inflammation... But we must be careful, because a combination with antibiotics can cause diarrhea, for patients with pancreatic problems there may be additional complications, and the most controversial is the use of probiotics to accelerate the growth of pork and poultry meat.
In the end, it is good to know that the human body is home to 400 to 500 species of microbes. Each has its own function, and only probiotics from different sources will deliver the desired results. In the morning, eat a slice or two of cheese, during the day drink a cup of kefir, and in the evening add some chia seeds, nuts, or raisins to your yogurt...
Best of all, don’t overdo anything.
And the most important finding: if you persist with probiotic supplements for at least a month and a half, you will have 70% fewer problems with pollen.
