Why shouldn't you eat canned tuna?
Canned tuna is the most popular canned food not only here, but also around the world. Unfortunately, there are many hidden dangers behind it ...

Tuna is basically extremely healthy, containing a lot of essential fats and other minerals that are very important for strong health, but unfortunately the canning process changes the whole picture significantly. For the worse!

Canned tuna brings a lot of risks.

1. High mercury content
Sea fish often contain large amounts of mercury. Sometimes so much that it can be dangerous to humans, especially because it is methylmercury, which causes serious complications in the eyes, kidneys, and lungs.

2. More intense flavor
Canned tuna has a more pronounced, pleasant flavor, but behind it are hidden flavor enhancers, spices, and of course enormous amounts of salt. Although we know that sodium is essential for many organic functions, too much sodium greatly increases the risk of stroke and heart attacks.

3. 1% dolphins
Although there is no official data, fishermen often report that dolphins, which are a protected species, often get caught in tuna nets. Some say that under extreme conditions, up to 1% of the catch can be dolphins. By regulation, dolphins should be returned to their natural environment, but because the demand for tuna is always increasing, this actually doesn’t happen. So, if you often eat canned tuna, there’s a good chance you have also eaten some dolphin.

4. Parasites
A very important reason why it’s good to avoid canned tuna is found in the tuna themselves. Rough estimates show that today, more than a third of fish are infected with fungi, microorganisms, and parasites that are dangerous to humans. It often turns out that canned tuna is not actually preserved well, so many of these microorganisms survive. Worst of all, an infection or parasite attack often goes unnoticed. Problems can only develop later on.

Anyway ...

It is said that tunas from the Thai sea are quite contaminated with heavy metals and infected with parasites, while those from the Adriatic sea are not (or much less so). Therefore, before buying fresh tuna, always check the origin (this is usually indicated by the price); for canned tuna, you will have to trust the manufacturer.
