Recently, there have been many cases where people suddenly become very ill (reports from Germany mention over 100 poisoned). So much so that some even fainted at the table. The cause: tomatoes!
It is, of course, better to avoid dangerous tomatoes. Not everyone is lucky enough that artificial colorings, fertilizers, and growth accelerators don’t affect them. Toxicologists still don’t know why this happens, but they have outlined some tips on what kind of tomatoes to buy:
- If a tomato has white veins in the fleshy part, be careful.
- If a tomato is too elastic, this could be a sign that it is a genetically modified product.
- If a tomato has no aroma and looks plastic, you have most likely come across a suspicious product.
- Only natural produce, grown without chemicals, has a pleasant aroma and uniform color (yes, some products are even given artificial coloring to look juicier - do not buy these!).
In other words: if you see a tomato with flaws, irregular shapes, and a fragrant smell, appreciate it!
